Lake Văcărești is a lake in the south of Bucharest, Sector 4. The lake has a surface of 140.500 m², a length of 2.3 km, a width of 2 km meters and a depth of 1–2 meters. It is now part of the ''Natural Park Văcărești'', a protected zone of nature〔(【引用サイトリンク】url=http://mmediu.ro/new/wp-content/uploads/2014/06/2014-06-05_HG_Lacul_Vacaresti.pdf )〕 . Over 100 species of wild birds and animals live in this area. The area is nicknamed ''Bucharest Delta''. ==History== The lake was formed from an old bifurcation of the Dâmbovița River and was known in the time of Nicolae Ceaușescu as ''Balta Văcărești''.
